ABOUT JJ PEER

Stories are better when the town has secrets.

I write paranormal cozy mysteries filled with hidden magic, unusual neighbors, found family, slow-burn romance, and the occasional murder inconveniently interrupting a perfectly good festival.

I’ve always loved stories where ordinary places hide extraordinary things—the bookstore with a little more history than it should have, the neighbor who knows far too much, the old house everyone in town has an opinion about, and the woods you’ve been politely advised not to enter after dark.

Everglen grew out of that fascination. It’s the kind of town I’d happily wander into myself: beautiful, welcoming, a little strange, and populated by people who know considerably more than they’re willing to admit.

A FEW THINGS YOU SHOULD PROBABLY NOW

I’m partial to: old towns, folklore, excellent coffee, bookstores with suspicious histories, candlelight, gardens, dogs, good wine, and stories that make you want to move somewhere that probably isn’t entirely safe.

In my books you’ll find: mystery without heavy gore, complicated families, supernatural residents with their own rules, slow-burn relationships, banter, found family, festivals, food, and at least one person who absolutely should have listened when someone told them not to go into the woods.

My philosophy: Magic should have consequences. Mysteries should have clues. Romance should be earned. And fictional towns should have excellent places to eat.

Welcome to Everglen.

Stay awhile. Explore the town. Meet the neighbors.

Just remember that everyone here has secrets.

Some of them are considerably more dangerous than others.

Mind the woods.
